Will your Mac lock when you leave?
Check whether your Mac is protected by a real lock habit or just a slow timer. Get the fix, then choose the Peeku edition that suits your install preference.
The checker runs in your browser. Peeku is free on the Mac App Store with private walk-away lock, desk health, and local presence coaching.
Peeku brings private walk-away lock, eye-rest nudges, Desk Health, and local presence coaching to the Mac App Store and the notarized Developer ID download. Auto Lock starts only after you grant explicit Accessibility permission.
What changes the score
Lock risk is mostly a timing problem.
A secure Mac needs two things to line up: the lock action must happen soon after you leave, and macOS must require a password as soon as that lock appears. A dark display without the password setting is not enough.
Peeku's full Mac app closes the timing gap by looking for local away evidence instead of waiting for idle time. Peeku Presence Coach is the safer App Store path for people who want private walk and eye-rest reminders first.
- Password delay. The lock screen only protects the session if macOS asks for the password immediately.
- Idle timeout. A ten-minute timer is fine while reading, but it leaves a ten-minute unattended gap.
- Manual memory. Keyboard shortcuts work when you remember them. Interruptions are the hard case.
- Presence signal. Local camera and optional Watch proximity let the lock decision follow whether you are there.
